Background of the Photograph
This photograph of the brilliant Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier from the Mýrdalsjökull ice cap located in Southern Iceland, was taken in December of 2017 by Kyler Badten.
"It was a bittersweet experience visiting the stunning glaciers of Iceland, seeing the best of nature and worst of man. Sólheimajökull reached the spot from where I took the photograph only 5 to 10 years ago." - Kyler Badten
Iceland's glaciers uncover stories of the past, but also heed warning for a potentially abysmal future. Rising global temperatures attributed to climate change have dramatically altered the scapes of Europe's most magnificent glaciers, melting away around 11 billion ton of glacial ice annually.
